| Elegant,
with an artistic flair, Celeste still calls her mother when she needs advice
remembers the birthdays of every niece and nephew. In the 1920's, Celeste moved
to New York to study ballet, was lured to the bright lights of Harlem, and
became a star of musical revues. Paris called and she was wined and dined by
the avant-garde, the beau monde and the bonvivants. Exhausted by the French,
she returned to the States in the 1960's, earning a journalism degree. A
fabulous cook, Celeste invented vegetarian chic, writing the bestseller, the
24-Hour Eggplant Diet. Became an instant celebrity, attending the 1987 Tony
Awards on the arm of diet guru Les Chow. The turn of the millennium found
Celeste stocking up on batteries, bottled water, and fine champagne. |
